St. Anger (рус. «Праведный гнев») — восьмой студийный альбом американской группы Metallica, выпущенный 5 июня 2003 года. Диск занял первое место в хит-параде Billboard 200.Первоначально альбом планировалось записать в специально созданной студии Presidio, но после перерыва, связанного с лечением Джеймса Хэтфилда от алкоголизма, группа решила перебраться в студию в Сан-Рафаэле, Калифорния.К моменту записи диска у Metallica не было басиста, так как в 2001 году Джейсон Ньюстед покинул группу. Все партии бас-гитары на альбоме исполнил продюсер Metallica Боб Рок.Во время записи диска с группой работал психолог Фил Таул (Phil Towle). Он в корне изменил механизм работы над песнями: если раньше каждый обособленно делал какие-то наброски, а потом делился идеями с остальными, то теперь работа велась сообща.Metallica прервала на несколько месяцев запись из-за того, что Джеймс Хэтфилд лег в реабилитационную клинику для лечения от алкоголизма.Строй гитар на альбоме был понижен до Dropped C (на 2 тона ниже стандартного), что повлекло за собой проблемы с голосом Хэтфилда.За период с 2001 по 2003 Metallica записала для нового альбома около 30 песен, но выбрала только 11 для релиза.
